Write for Us

Entertain us. Inform us. Move us.

Want to write for Geek Travel Guide? You’ll find a friendly team of editors here who are willing to help you work to make your content shine.

At this time, we don’t have an editorial budget, but we do offer bylines and a link to your website or blog – making this a great guest posting opportunity! We also allow you to place affiliate links within your content, as long as you disclose them as such.

Our Content

Our articles generally range from 500 to 1,200 words (although we might accept a longer piece if it keeps us riveted to our screens the whole time).

Articles must fit into one of our channels / micro-sites: Travel, Technology, TV & Movies, Books (and Anime), Gaming, or Creative Crafts. These categories are extremely broad so we are open to hearing a wide range of ideas. We do not accept articles for Musings from freelancers; these are written by the GTG team.

We are especially interested in travel articles within the continental U.S., including handy travel tips and reviews of tourist attractions. We love when stories tie in travel and fandom.

First-person narratives are welcome. We also like news stories based on current happenings or product launches in technology and the media.

To understand what we want, read some of the content on the site.

Don’ts:

We do not publish celebrity gossip.  We do not publish articles with a political slant. We do not publish anything negative. We seek uplifting, fun, and informative content.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, and we run stories through several platforms to find it. If we catch you, you will not write for GTG, Allcot Media Marketing, or any Allcot Media properties, ever.

Do’s:

  • Use proper grammar and keep your pieces easy-to-read and scannable.
  • Keep sentences and paragraphs short and punchy.
  • Choose interesting verbs.
  • Use active voice.
  • Use subheads between every 3 – 4 paragraphs.
  • Follow AP style guide.
  • Embrace the serial comma.
  • Use adverbs and adjectives sparingly.
  • Provide links for quoted content and ensure they are from a reputable website.

Submit completed articles or short pitches to [email protected]. I will respond within 48 hours. (The answer, at that time, might be “maybe,” but you’ll know I received your email!)
